1. BACKROUND:
The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is an independent, humanitarian, non-profit, non-governmental organization which provides assistance, protection and durable solutions to refugees and internally displaced persons worldwide for over 60 years. The Norwegian Refugee Council has been working in Ethiopia since 2011 on Shelter, Education, Food Security and Water and Sanitation (WASH) in Dollo Ado, Jigjiga, Assossa, Gambela and Shire towns and surrounding areas.
2. Purpose of the assignment
The purpose of the survey is to make an independent ascertain the amount and type of building materials used at two office construction sites in Gambela region as well as a cost estimate for the individual items.
3. Expected output/deliverables:
The surveyor will produce a report for each site with the breakdown of the type and amount of building material used for the construction, and what remains unused at the site. Conduct a market survey in Gambela to establish an estimated cost per individual material type. These three elements should then be broken down into the different stages of the construction. (The scope of each stage will be determined in discussion between NRC and the consultant.) Both reports need to be singed and stamped by an authorised surveyor to confirm its authenticity.
