Post title: Participatory Forest Management (PFM) Officer
Duty station: Addis Ababa with frequent fieldwork within EWNRA intervention Regions
Duration: One year with a possibility of extension for live years.
Position Summary
The PFM Officer provides technical input on Participatory Forest Management Projects implemented by EWNRA jointly with various national and international organizations. Undertakes regular field visit and monitor project progresses. Provides technical advice and support in REDD+, WCC-PFM and in other projects as well. Involve in REDD+ and PFM related discussions in different platforms. Prepare standard and fundable project documents that meet national and international donors’ requirements. Involve in capacity building activities and contribute towards preparing technical materials, policy briefing notes, reports and relevant technical materials As information dissemination actor involves in various forest and NRM discussions and debates nationally.
Qualifications and experience:
- Experience of project management and reporting, project supervision, project/ programme development and management, as well as support to field project staffs and takes part in project monitoring,
- Knowledge in REDD+ area and understanding the current thinking and ability to contribute towards implementation within EWNRA implemented projects.
- Proven experience to undertake participatory forest management in a truly participatory manner, with experience of multi-stakeholder analysis, conflict resolution and partnership,
- Experience and capacity in developing and wilting high quality, fundable projects on forest, land management and environmental issues, and evidence of success with project proposal submissions.
- Experience of land management in a landscape / catchment approach to ensure most efficient and sustainable use of land for improving livelihoods and sustaining ecosystem functioning
- A good understanding of the dynamics in forest management and how these can be linked to improved livelihoods through forest enterprise development
- Knowledge and extensive practical experience of participatory problem analysis, training, community institution building, and participatory monitoring and evaluation.
- Awareness of the international experience and debates about PFM and community involvement in forest management for different goals and exposure in areas of climate change science.
- Eight years of relevant experience in participatory forest management with at least 4 years of this with PFM experience. MSc degree in Forestry, Forest related Natural Resources Management or PFM pertinent fields is required.
- Excellent inter-personal communication skills, excellent command of both written and spoken English.
- GIS and Computer literate with good working capacity on MS Windows, Excel, SPSS and other data analysis tools
