1. Job title: Communication Officer
Place of Work: Addis Ababa
Reports to: Country Representative
Main Purpose of the Job: Leading and coordinating the communication activities of BE for increased Brooke’s visibility, and improved documentation and communication of programme results, experiences and success stories to different stakeholders (including donors). The communication activities are also to facilitate and support BE’s work on policy influencing, as well as education and awareness raising on equine welfare.
Core Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Coordinating and managing BE’s communication and public relations work.
- Documentation and communication of BE experiences and achievements.
- Working closely with the media and managing BE’s work with the media.
- Coordinating and supporting the development and production of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials for the different programmes and the country office.
- Supporting and facilitating communication and fund raising activities of the London office.
- Providing technical support and capacity building to the BE Staff and Partners’ staff in the area of communication and public relations.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum of a first degree in Communication Studies, Public Relations, Journalism, Development Studies or related fields.
- At least three years of experience in media, public relations, communications and related works.
- Good understanding of the media and communications environment in Ethiopia.
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written) in English and Amharic.
- Good information management skills, including the ability to write clear and concise reports for variety of audiences.
- Good and creative ability and skills in the use of audio-visual equipment.
- Knowledge of basic Animal Welfare concepts and the importance of working equines to households Jibe economy.
- Fluency in English and Amharic (spoken and written).
- Strong IT skills
- Experience working in the NGO Sector.
Place of work: Addis Ababa
Main Purpose of the Job:
- Drive the Brooke’s vehicles as required
- Ensure that the vehicle is kept in good repair.
- Ensuring the safety of the vehicle and passengers’
- Liaison & Purchasing functions
Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge
Essential;
- 3rd Grade Driving License
- Education -10 grade (12 grade) completed
- 2 years and above NGO work Experience
- Good communication skill in English (written and spoken)
- Good field work experience.
Desirable;
- Trained in mechanics of vehicle
- Good Knowledge of Amharic & English languages
