JOB DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the program officer, the counselor will provide preliminary mental health counseling for the “Biruh Tesfa” HIV/AIDS prevention for adolescent vulnerable girls’ /project beneficiaries/ at woreda levels. The incumbent will provide counseling service and work with individuals and groups to promote optimum mental and emotional health service.
The counselor will help out of school vulnerable adolescent girls/project beneficiaries/ in dealing with issues associated to physical and sexual abuse, stress management, and self-esteem, to avoid negative social, psychological and health outcomes.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Facilitate site level individual and group counseling for project beneficiariesConduct counseling service to vulnerable adolescent girls /project beneficiaries/ and encouraging them to express their feelings.Maintain confidentiality of records relating to clients counseling and treatment.Collect information about vulnerable adolescent girls /project beneficiaries/ through interviews, group discussion, observation, etc.Counsel vulnerable adolescent girls /project beneficiaries/ individually or in group sessions, to assist them in overcoming dependencies, adjusting to life, or making changes.Guide vulnerable adolescent girls /project beneficiaries/ in the development of skills or strategies in dealing with their problems.Maintain all required counseling and treatment records.Collaborate with other staff members and relevant health facilities to perform clinical assessments or develop treatment planRefer vulnerable adolescent girls /project beneficiaries/ to specialists as required Keeping records and reports on regular basesPrepares summarized monthly and quarterly reports.
