Leprosy Specialist Job at ALERT - 2015

Duties and Responsibilities

 
•       Monitoring the treatment of leprosy in and outpatients.

•       Treatment of patient requiring special therapeutic care.

•       Planning and supervision of health education to in and outpatients.

•       Promoting and participating in leprosy training activities as well as community awareness to   

         increase the early diagnosis  rate.
•       Actively participate in advanced training in leprosy.
•       Special training and instruction of post graduate dermatovenerology residents and general medical

        Doctors as a successor to take over his tasks.
•       Coopration with the senior staff members of the hospital administration regarding working schedules

         ,recruitment and  needs assessments.

•       Performing operational research work in the field of leprosy.
•       Responsible for leprosy clinic tasks regarding reporting and planning.

•       Regular contact and dialogue with dermatology department head in any leprosy related activities in

        Ethiopia as well as internationally.

•      Facilitating the training and capacity building  of health staff  together with senior

       Dermatovenereologists.

•      Identify needs (E.g laboratory, medicines, supply chain) to establish a fully functional best leprosy

        referral center in Ethiopia as well as including drafting proposals for fundraising and lobbying with

        GLRA, Lions club and other NGOs to fully equip ALERT leprosy service for its function.

•      If required, advisory activities to the Federal  leprosy and TB National program by order of ALERT.

Skills and Specifications

·         Able to respond to demanding and complicated patient situations.

·         Effective communication with other doctors as well as patients.

·         Maintain concise ,timely and accurate confidential records of patients.

·         Able to prioritize patients according to their clinical needs.

·         Good time management skills to be balance the clinical and administrative duties.

·         Ability to solve difficult problems.

·         Strong decision-making and practical skills.

Qualification & Requirements:

·         Degree in medicine

·         General practice experience after graduation in medicine.

·          Research experience in the field of leprosy.

·         Post-graduate studies in leprosy.

·         Leprosy related teaching experience and publications.

 Employment condition:  part time
