CNFA is an international development firm based in Washington, D.C. dedicated to stimulating sustainable growth in the agricultural sector. CNFA specializes in fostering private sector investment as a means to increase the overall competitiveness of agricultural value chains, expand exports and develop skills in the rural workforce. By generating higher incomes for farmers, processors, entrepreneurs and distributors, CNFA helps improve livelihoods and reduce poverty.
CNFA, with a consortium of international and national partners, is currently implementing a five year United States Agency for International Development (USAID) funded Agricultural Growth Program-Livestock Market Development Project (AGP-LMD). Started on September 17, 2012, the project will run through September 30, 2017. The Project will foster growth and reduce poverty through improving the productivity and competitiveness of selected livestock value chains: meat/live animals, hides/skins/leather, and dairy. The program will operate in the AGP targeted Woredas of Oromia, Amhara, Tigray, and SNNPR, to the benefit of thousands of smallholder livestock producers.
REPORT TO : Logistics and Procurement Manager
Job Summary
The Purpose of the Customs and Logistics Officer Position is to assist and facilitate efficient, smooth and cost-effective procurement and customs clearance services for the LMD project mainly related to international and local grant procurement processes.
Tasks
Responsible for customs clearance for incoming goods from abroad Work closely with USAID approved clearing agents to clear goods immediately Make sure all documents are submitted to USAID logistics and shipping units on time Work closely with the grant unit to procure items for grantees Keep a record of all vendor information Work with finance to settle all payments regarding procurement items/ services Keep accurate and organized procurement documents Liaise with government offices and transiting companies Analyze and prepare bid summaries and present to the procurement committees with recommendations Discuss equipment specifications with vendors, and ensure that items received match the purchase order before payment Prepare payment requests for purchased items Work with the technical team to obtain requests in advance Report all procurement activities to the Procurement and Logistics Manager weeklyUndertake all other activities as requested by the Logistics and Procurement Manager
Education
Minimum BA degree and 5 years of relevant work experience. Experience on USAID funded projects is an advantage
