Terms of Contract: Four months with possible extension
PROGRAM BACKGROUND:
Reporting to the WASH Manager , the Senior WASH officer will be responsible for the implementation of the Water schemes rehabilitation and maintenances of Amhara Region: Lay Gaint and Mekete woredas host community that includes electro mechanical equipment maintenance and replacement water point’s maintenance, construction and participate on regular WASH related activities with the government water sector offices.
The IMC seeks Senior WASH officer focusing on Water schemes rehabilitation and construction its Amhara Region, Amhar WASH program, to be based in Mekete and travel to the two woredas
Role and Responsibilities:
· Coordinate with the relevant woreda level water sectors and community partners towards mobilizing the community for the maintenance and rehabilitation of water schemes
· Monitor & supervise water supply systems structures rehabilitation, and construction which include electromechnical equipment and hand pump replacement, rehabilitation of reservoir, public tap stands, pipe laying of pressure mains & distribution networks etc;
· Initiate procurement towards purchase of the required items for rehabilitation, maintenance and construction of water supply system;
· Participate on meetings regarding water supply activities in Amhara Zone as advised by the supervisor;
· Facilitate in documenting water supply construction related data and keep records of water supply activities
· Supervision of on-force & all contracted activities such as maintenance of generator, installation of hand pumps, Generator house, pipe lines, tap stand by presenting at site level during the construction.
· Participate on needs assessments, planning, organizing, and implementation, of WASH programs in Mekete;
· Participate on assessment/survey in collaboration with the WASH coordinator and woreda staff
· Facilitate in working with relevant partners government sector offices: water, health, and DPPC or other NGO’s and GO’s
· Prepare monthly reports and submit to the supervisor on the work progress of the water schemes constructed, and maintained
· Participate in other WASH activities as assigned by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS: (Training/education/experience/physical demands required; provide 6-8 requirements)
· Experienced professionals in a relevant field BSc Degree in the area of WASH: Water, Civil engineer, public health, and Environmental health with at least 4 years of relevant work experiences.
· Commitment to IMC’s mission- Improve the quality of life through health interventions and related activities that build local capacity.
· Working knowledge of English (spoken and written)
· Preferable to use Office Word, and Excel
