Chief Electrical Engineer- Hydroelectric Project Ethiopia

My client is a recognized leader in Hydropower worldwide, who is seeking a Chief Electrical Engineer to join the construction supervision team of their Hydroelectric Project. Located in Southern Ethiopia and total size of 250 MW. The project includes a high concrete-faced rockfill dam, gated weir open chute spillway, gated power intake structure and hard rock tunnels. Construction is currently underway and is expected to be completed in early 2017. The anticipated duration of the assignment is approximately 18 months, commencing in May/ June 2015.

Responsibilities: (Reporting to Chief Resident Engineer)
* The Chief Electrical Engineer is responsible for daily inspection of the Contractor’s electrical installation work
* Produce daily internal reports and contribute to the preparation of the weekly and monthly reports that are issued to the Employer.
* He shall participate in the regularly scheduled progress and technical meetings with both the Employer and the Contractor.
* Coordinate his work with the other engineering disciplines (civil and mechanical) to resolve any construction interface issues etc.
* Assist the Employer and the Contractor in all phases of the electrical work, including various aspects of design, construction, testing and commissioning of the Works.
* Assist the Chief Resident Engineer in checking and certifying the Contractor’s payment applications, processing of variations, evaluation of relevant contractors’ claims connected with the electrical works and managing design changes etc.
* Chief Electrical Engineer is expected to contribute to and facilitate the transfer of knowledge and technology to the local Ethiopian staff through on-the-job-training, periodic seminars etc.

Qualifications:
* BS/BSc. Electrical Engineering degree from an accredited university or technical institute or demonstrated equivalent experience and membership of an accredited Professional Association.
* 15+ years of engineering and construction experience on power/industrial/infrastructure projects, including at least 5 years on hydropower projects.
* Experience of working similar locations would be advantageous.
