SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia is a national member association to the International Federation of SOS Children’s Villages. It is non- political, not-for-profit, and non-religious social development organization focused on the well being and development of children. It was founded in 1974 and has been a development partner since then with positive outcomes in the lives of many children, families and communities.
The SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia National Office is looking for a competent and able Project Sponsorship Officer that meets the requirements stated bellow.
Position Summary
The Project Sponsorship Officer is responsible to the village director in handling all sponsorship activities in SOS Children’s Village Programme. He/she is the immediate link to the sponsored children, to the village andaffiliated
projects regarding sponsorship tasks. It is also the responsibility of the position holder to form close relationship with the sponsored children and record progressive information for the sponsors’ consumption. Therefore, he/she is expected to follow data and information on the overall development of sponsored children and the facility in general and pass reliable information to the National Office Sponsorship department. The employee, by keeping in mind the overall purpose of the Sponsorship office in attracting and keeping sponsors as a valuable means to cover the financing of the family life in the organization prepares reports and other correspondences to the desired effect.
General aim of the position
The job incumbent is required to properly accomplish the project sponsorship activities, form positive and close relationship with sponsored children, keep the long term relation with sponsors by providing progressive information, Provide reliable information to the national sponsorship department and give swift replies, ensure the implementation of the sponsorship policy support document, follows information on the general activities of the project and pass relevant information for the sponsorship department consumption.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Follow data and overall information on sponsored children
- Gather information and follow the progress of the village andaffiliated
facilities which are appropriate for the sponsors. - Update such data recordings quarterly to national office sponsorship department and keep information systematically and orderly for reference at any time.
- Fill out and forward the monthly update form about any change on the status of children and youth under the Village’s care
- Based on the sponsorship policy support document and report guideline prepares bi-annual reports on all sponsored children and submits to NO sponsorship department.
- According to SOS photography guideline, take the proper pictures of children and or facility when needed and send to the IDS department.
- Compose Program Reports including major activities of the village, the affiliated facilities, other appropriate issues and pictures bi-annually for the consumption of facility sponsors and send to national office sponsorship department.
- Receives letters and gifts of sponsors from the national sponsorship department and distributes to the addressed children.
- Follows up on the status of children, whenever there is a change, like change of location, dismissal from school or village, health problem and provides the necessary update to national sponsorship department.
- As part of the child admission team fill the child admission form properly and forward to national sponsorship office for approval along with pictures.
- Based on the sponsorship policy support document, identifies departing children and prepares departure notice to national sponsorship department.
- Maintains strict confidentiality and security in respect of all records, in particular children biography, sponsors data and other sensitive information.
- Handles visiting sponsors and forwards filled out visit form to the NO
- Performs other related and complementary activities that will be assigned by the immediate supervisor provided that they do not deviate from the fundamental sponsorship work.
Educational and Competency requirements
- BA degree in English Language and Literature, Journalism and Communication and other related social science fields.
- 0 to 1 year of work experience.
- High level of English language skills (especially writing)
- Good knowledge of computers and computer systems
- Ability to carefully summarize and compose documents
- Ability to process large quantity of data
- Excellent communication skills
