The Livestock Development project Officer (LSD for USAID project) is responsible to enhance the capacity of the pastoralist and agro-pastoralists to improve and sustain livestock production and productivity (particular emphasis to) forage production and development/range land management, animal health management, marketing information and development. She/he will report to the Program Director and expected to plan, implement, monitor and evaluate livestock development works. She/he is responsible for preparing reports and document practices of projects under implementation. Familiarize and Promote community learning and institution building policies and guidelines of ASE to community, PO staff and relevant government counterparts and works towards the realization of this policies and guidelines in the context of pastoralist areas. Organizes capacity building activities to the community, PO and GO staff in the area of institution development.
Education: BA/B.Sc, Agricultural Extension, Rural Development, Rangeland Management, or related field of study.
Experience: 4 years in relevant fields; preferable with exposure in NGO working in Disaster Risk Reduction, Early Warning Technique, Food Security, agriculture and rural development.
Personal Competency:
- Able to identify, analyze and solves problems, work in a team environment.
- Exposure to the local culture and speaking local language are assets.
- Have basic computer skills, good oral and written communication skills and committed to work with rural poor and willing to work under pressure.
Place of work: Rayitu Woreda, Bale Zone, Oromiya Region.
