Regional Laboratory Advisor Job at ICAP - 2015

Provide technical support to ICAP-supported health facilities and the regional health bureau/reference laboratories of the Emerging Regions to strengthen lab services, including integrated sample referral networks and external quality assurance program.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision by the Regional Director, the Regional Lab Advisor (ERs) will have the following responsibilities:

·         Build the capacity of health facility laboratory staff in lab quality management laboratory mentorship and quality

·         Provide technical assistance to the health facilities on the implementation of Quality lab quality management system at hospital health networks;

·         Work closely with sits labs to ensure proper and uninterrupted lab referral system like CD4 sample and DBS sample referral;

·         Collaborate with local stakeholder to provide TA to the labs and at the health facilities on implementation of laboratory quality system;

·         Provide technical assistance in the planning, organizing and implementation of lab services by the health facilities

·         Work closely with the RHB on establishment or strengthening biomedical lab equipment maintenance services;

·         Provide TA to health facilities to strengthen early infant diagnosis, viral load testing

·         Support health facilities in use of documents such as SOPs for laboratory tests, specimen management, safety, waste management, equipment operation and instrument handling (preventive maintenance) procedure, laboratory mentorship and equipment maintenance;

·         Assists health facilities in planning and implementation lab mentorship and identify gaps/ challenges and develop action item to ensure quality lab services.

·         Work closely with the site lab focal person on equipment and supplies need assessment to strengthen lab services of the region;

·         Support health facilities in the adoption of records such as logbooks for daily laboratory activity, recording logbooks, log sheets for stoke and inventory management, quality control and specimen tracking.

·         Seek for technical support from Central Laboratory Advisor as needed.

·         Assist in the preparation of the CU-ICAP regional offices monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual work plans and reports;

·         Perform any other related duties assigned by the Regional Director
