FHI360 seeks a qualified candidate for the position ofChief of Party for an upcoming health communications project in Ethiopia. This position will be based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.


Availability of position is contingent upon funding and approval of key personnel.


Job Summary / Responsibilities:


Provide overall leadership management and general technical direction of the entire program, ensuring an integrated vision among different components and actors, and a focus on achieving results.


Responsibilities:


The responsibilities shall include over all planning, coordination, and direction of all activities including the work of sub-recipients (if any). S/he is responsible for the oversight and the management of all staffs and activities of the project. The Chief of Party shall be expected to have regular transparent communication with the AOR


  • Provide overall vision and leadership for the project.

  • Develop and monitor work plans and budgets; ensure appropriate levels of technical assistance in program operations; coordinate partner efforts in program implementation; ensure appropriate program monitoring and reporting.

  • Ensures that systems are in place so that each implementing agency fully complies with USAID and other donor regulations regarding implementation procedures, reporting and evaluation.

  • Ensure alignment of project technical strategies and needs of national structures.

  • Serve as the project’s representative to USAID/Ethiopia, the Ministry of Health, other donors and institutions, technical agencies and other participating organizations as required.

  • Responsible for the successful implementation of the project and for providing general program and technical direction as well as completion of required reports.

  • Identify issues and risks related to program implementation in a timely manner, and suggest appropriate program adjustments.

Qualifications:


  • S/he shall be the Chief of Party with at least 10 years of experience in the following areas:

  • A minimum of a Master’s degree in health communications, public health management, social sciences, international development, or a related field.

  • At least 10 years experience leading, managing and implementing large international development projects, specifically with experience in two or more of the following areas: health communication, health systems strengthening, behavioral change communication, community development or public health, disease prevention.

  • Broad understanding of public health and in particular, sufficiently knowledgeable in the area of Social Behavioral Change Communication related to health particularly in Africa as well as relevant socioeconomic, institutional and policy issues that are related to this area of work.

  • Professional experience interacting with US Government agencies, host country governments, and other relevant stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated experience working in partnership with international donors and agencies
