Education Leader, Addis Ababa

Fixed term full time employment from 01.09.2012 up to Oct 2014 (extendable).

Objective

Contribute to the development of IPSS and APSA as member of the senior management team Ensure that APSP/IPSS educational and training offer in peace and security meets the requirement of professionals and students from across Africa and is recognized as a global benchmark for excellence in terms of content and training delivery Design and implement a (partial) commercialization strategy of IPSS's education and training offer Lead a team of five to ten professionals.

Principal tasks

Ensure the on-going development of curriculum and methodology of the training course MPSA and other education offers, focused on blended learning and adult education Ensure delivery to benchmarked global standards and acquire international accreditation for MPSA Identify further training and education needs and develop and implement programmes accordingly, partly in collaboration with international partners Hire and manage facilitators and faculty Manage and further develop educational infrastructure, including facilities, equipments, ITC, computerized Learning Management System, library etc. Manage and further develop the online learning platform / blended learning approach.

Specific qualifications

Relevant University Degree (MA, preferably PhD) Excellent command of English; at least oral command of French, Arabic or Portuguese At least 15 years professional experience Thereof a minimum of 6 years professional experience in a non-academic environment (this may include consulting) Substantial experience in the design and delivery of advanced training for professionals Substantial experience in the design of academic courses Very substantial exposure to different African countries and other continents

work in a multi-cultural, pan-African settingcontinuously meet demanding work standards / global good practiceflexibly adjust to frequent changes of specific objectives, priorities and institutional set-upcontribute significantly and demonstrably to the programme's mission Solid professional background in peace & security or related fields; your own expertise shall allow you to easily communicate with top experts; of critical importance are your interest and ability to rapidly grasp new ideas and situations, and to communicate clearly on these issues.
