The consultant will: • Liaise with the Government of RoSS and its embassy, African Union Liaison Office based in Juba and other relevant stakeholders in the RoSS; • Ensure high quality and harmonized documentations of the case study in line with APSP guidelines • Develop and interpret a user friendly database system that provides critical analytical background of workshop and conference reports, periodical AU reports and any other relevant submissions etc. • Ensure that networks of partner institutes, list of potential partners, contacts, conduct assessment of research teams and field visits are developed within the provision of concrete partnership agreements; • Guide the research team on the RoSS case study; develop ToR, ensure contracting of adequate experts, etc. • Ensure that the in-country research team leader and the established research teams are monitored in their research progress, that they produce quality work and have authentic data as is reflected in the terms of reference; • Liaise with the IPSS Communications Manager for research dissemination, documentation and publication (system and products); • Ensure that the management of funds available to the research component is in line with GIZ procedures; • Undertake other technical duties and tasks as required and assigned by APSP Programme Director;
Qualification and experience: • PhD degree in Peace and Security studies, Political Science or relevant discipline. • In depth knowledge of African Peace and Security issues and African Union Peace and Security instruments. • Knowledge of blended learning approaches and methodologies. • Understanding of and experience with adult learning methodologies.
• Experience working in a fast paced environment. • Fluent in both written and oral English language skills. • Excellent and demonstrable computer skills (Word, Power point, Excel, Advanced Excel etc) • Ability to work under pressure and stringent timelines.
