EMERGENCY FOOD SECURITY AND VULNERABLE LIVELIHOODS COORDINATOR LOCATION: SITTI ZONE, DIRE DAWA – ETHIOPIA CONTRACT TYPE: FIXED TERM FOR SIX MONTHS WITH POSSIBILLITY OF EXTENSIONS

Background Oxfam is responding to the drought in Ethiopia with specific focus in Siti and Fafen zone in Somali, West Arsi in Oromia and Afar region focusing on prevention and mitigation of the drought impacts exacerbated this year’s “El Niño” episode. Oxfam GB is committed to providing timely humanitarian assistance to those affected by drought and to increasing programme impact by strengthening the effectiveness and accountability of our humanitarian work. Oxfam Ethiopia is looking for an experienced and professional EFSVL Coordinator to take on an influential role, leading on EFSVL in Sitti Zone.


The Role
Reporting to the Emergency Response Coordinator in Sitti Zone, You will be responsible for the leadership, management, technical support and quality control for the emergency food security and vulnerable livelihood intervention in Sitti Zone, Somali region including needs assessment, design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.


The Person
To succeed in this role you will have:
 Minimum of 5 years experience in EFS-VL emergency and development work, and understanding of relevant humanitarian and policy issues, experience in pastoralist community is an added advantage.
 Experience in capacity-building and partnership approaches
 Good experience in proposal development, including budgets and financial management.
 Proven management skills with the ability to quickly deliver results,
 Experience in leading and motivating teams; a high degree of self awareness and an understanding of how to drive and support excellent team performance and individual development
 Proven ability to be flexible, to work under stress and tight deadlines, and a passion for working with others.
