SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia is a national member association to the International Federation of SOS Children’s Villages. It is non- political, not-for-profit, and non-religious social development organization focused on the wellbeing and development of children. It was founded in 1974 and has been a development partner since then with positive outcomes in the lives of many children, families and communities.
The SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia National Office is looking for a competent and able HR Officer, Employee Talent Developmentthat meets the requirements stated bellow.
Position summary:
Under the direct supervisor of the HROD Manager, the job handles the learning and professional development of an organisation’s workforce. The job holder ensures that co-workers are equipped with the necessary knowledge, practical skills and motivation to carry out work-related tasks. In addition, the HR Officer, Employee Talent Development helps with the ongoing, long-term improvement of employees’ skills, enabling them to fulfill their potential within the organisation. The job holder is also required to be strategic partner in assessing the skills and knowledge within an organisation and determining what training and development interventions are needed to grow and retain these skills.
Priority tasks & responsibilities
- Identifying training and development needs within an organisation through job analysis, appraisal schemes and regular consultation with line managers and HROD department;
- Designing and expanding training and development programmes based on the needs of the organisation and the individual;
- Working in a team to produce programmes that are satisfactory to all relevant co-workers in the organisation, such as line, Senior Leadership Team, Program Advisors managers, and Supervisors;
- Considering the costs of planned programmes and keeping within budgets as assessing the return on investment of any training or development programme is becoming increasingly important;
- Developing effective induction programmes to new co-workers;
- Advice supervisor in devising individual learning and development plans;
- Producing training materials for in-house courses to be conducted by internal talent;
- Managing the delivery of training and development programmes and, in a more senior role, devising a training strategy for the organisation;
- Monitoring and reviewing the progress of trainees through questionnaires and discussions with line managers;
- Ensuring that statutory training , development and education requirements are met;
- Evaluating training and development programmes;
- Amending and revising programmes as necessary, in order to adapt to changes occurring in the work environment;
- Helping line managers and trainers solve specific training problems, either on a one-to-one basis or in groups;
- Organize different workshop, meeting, seminary using the facilities of the Organization;
- having an understanding of e-learning techniques, and where relevant, being involved in the creation and/or delivery of e-learning packages;
Competency & Education requirement:
- A bachelor’s degree in Human resources, Business Administration or a related field
- 3 years of relevant experience. Having NGO experience is advantageous
- Interpersonal skills;
- Written and spoken communication;
- Good analytical
- problem-solving and negotiation skills;
- initiative and the ability to offer new ideas;

- Working knowledge of all functional areas in HR preferred

- Demonstrate expert knowledge of adult learning theory, methods and techniques
- Excellent training, facilitation and presentation skill
- Experience in administering employee training programs, training needs assessment and performance gap analysis.
