Job Description

Position: Malaria TA


Number required: 4
Job Summary
To support FMOH and Regional Health Bureaus in strengthening the Malaria interventions in the region (including Malaria in Refugee camps and developmental programmes).
Location
Addis Ababa, Gambella, SNNPR and Amhara


Specific Tasks
The TAs will work closely with malaria officers in the Government. She/he is expected to submit regular malaria situational report and monthly report.
• With malaria team leader at FMOH/RHBs, he/she will coordinate the national LLIN distribution campaign
• Collect, analyze and interpret Malaria data on program interventions
• Work on the regional malaria situation follow-up, epidemic preparedness, detection and mitigation matters.
• Plan organize and conduct field assessments pertaining to malaria program and timely report
• Provide technical support to the RHBs on planning, organizing, implementation and Monitoring and evaluation of malaria control interventions in Regions, Woredas in the field settings including Malaria commodity Micro plan
• Provide technical support in all aspects of vector control interventions based on the national vector control guideline.
• Supporting the capacity building efforts of the program using relevant tools and approaches for program staff in various aspects of malaria control and related fields;
• Assist the Ministry/RHBs by working closely with EPHI and other partners on the insecticide resistance monitoring.
• Preparing reference documents, guidelines, reports as needed
• Actively participate in IRS and other vector control effort including insecticide efficacy, epidemic preparedness tasks.
• Do other relevant activities as requested by the FMOH pertaining to malaria program.
• Support partners contribution in alignment to FMOH led national malaria prevention and control program
Methodology
• In consultation to FMOH/RHBs SSA to identify key activities in the AWP to be supported on monthly basis.
• Participate and provide inputs in technical meetings, trainings, prepare presentations and documents progresses and challenges ,etc
• Conduct field trips on monitoring implementations and assessments of malaria interventions
• Prepare and submit monthly progress report
Expected Deliverables
• Document/report produced for malaria monitoring and assessments, presentation/ training provided to FMOH/RHB experts,
• Monthly progress report submitted to the FOs in the assigned regions.
• Mass LLIN distribution campaign Report completed as planned in well-coordinated manner
• Report on Training results at Federal, regional health bureaus as part of capacity development


Reporting
4 Malaria TAs will directly report to health specialist and Health PO in a locations where they are assigned.
Expected Background and Minimum Experience
• Academic qualifications – Advanced degree on health or health related field of science, statistics related to malaria data management.
• Employment experience – Four (4) years progressively responsible professional work experience at least 3 years of which working at national/regional level on malaria control activities
• Fluent in English both, spoken and written
• Experience in malaria prevention, particularly vector control techniques/IRS is required
• Experience in coordination of multiple partners strongly desired
• Has experience in Computer skills and their applications


General Conditions: Procedures and Logistics
• The consultants will not be provided lodging and/or meals.
• The consultant will not work from the Client’s office; rather work in remote location, mainly in the field.
• The consultants are entitled to DSA when travelled and working in the field
• The consultant should provide his/her own materials, i.e. computer,
• The consultant will use rented car (rented by the Client through Lon Add Plc)
• The consultant will be paid monthly upon completion of deliverables as indicated on this TOR on monthly basis.
