ABOUT US
GOAL has been working in Ethiopia since 1984 implementing a range of development, resiliency and humanitarian responses – working with street children, pastoralists and rural small holders. Currently GOAL Ethiopia’s major funders are USAID/OFDA, ECHO, BPRM, Irish Aid/MAPS, Irish Aid/EHAF, UNOCHA.GOAL currently work in over 25 woredas across four Regions of Ethiopia and we deliver a range of programs including child protection, development, nutrition, emergency relief and rehabilitation. In 2005 GOAL, in partnership with USAID/OFDA, established the Humanitarian Response Programme (HRP) to respond to emergency nutrition situations in Ethiopia.
ABOUT THE ROLE
GOAL Ethiopia is looking for a competent, motivated, experienced Logistics worker to join the organization. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic team. You will be joining the organization at an exciting time of growth and change. You’ll be instrumental in ensuring that all GOAL logistics policies and procedures are properly and adequately understood and implemented across GOAL Ethiopia.
ABOUT YOU
You’ll be an experienced officer with humanitarian and development work experience. You’ll have had demonstrable exposure to a variety of logistics activity. Your experience will be in Procurement, Transport, Warehouse and Communications management.
REQUIREMENTS:
BA in Purchasing and Supplies Management or related field with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in logistics management in an international NGO. Good experience in managing complex logistics operations. Experience liaising with government bodies, UN agencies and other NGOs. Willing and able to travel 80% of the time to the GOAL Ethiopia field offices. Willing to travel to remote areas and to camp in the field, ability to work flexibly including weekends and holidays in remote locations and live in basic conditions.Familiar with donor guidelines; USAID/OFDA, ECHO, EHAF, UNOCHA etc.Excellent team leader and builder, communicator, facilitator and trainer, flexible and capable of working with an international/country team.Demonstrated management skills to deal with a myriad of tasks.Good computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.Understanding of the HRP nature and willing to travel and live in field site, with frequent transfer from site to site.Good team player, flexible and capable of working with an international country team.Outgoing personality with excellent communication and training skills.Sensitive to cross cutting issues like gender, accountability, child protection and HIV/AIDS.
Desirable qualities, Skills and Competences: (list of qualities that are considered desirable for the specific post):
· Ability and experience in change management, including implementing new systems and bringing new and existing staff ‘on board’;
· Experience of managing security issues in insecure/hostile environments:
· Coaching and capacity building skills;
· Ability and experience in transport management, including maintenance, repair and training.
· Background from/familiarity to locality.
Remuneration & Benefits:
Salary
Birr 13,446.00 per month
Transportation Allowance – 10% of monthly salary
Medical Allowance – Birr 6500/annum (will be added in your monthly salary)
