Overall Objectives for the Job:
The Communication Advisor will lead the communications and public relations work of ICAP Ethiopia, and will oversee the design and roll out of key communication activities, and manage the documentation and dissemination of project achievements.
The Communications Advisor will be critical in ICAP-E network strengthening with partners, and in developing the right message to funders, local partners, project beneficiaries, and other key stakeholders.
The post-holder will be a strong, adaptable individual with the ability to drive work forward while maintaining active collaboration and engagement with all key stakeholders and partners. The ideal candidate will have exceptional technical experience of communications and media use, and demonstrable experience on editing documents.
Main Duties and responsibilities
1) Communication and Information:
· Design and manage ICAP’s internal and external communication, and media work related to communicating with key partners;
· Develop regular media messages such as brochures, handouts, leaflets, videos, photographs as well as fliers for all ICAP events, meetings and workshops;
· Prepare and edit organizational publications for internal and external audiences, including brochures, press releases, website and other communication materials related to the ICAP projects;
· Ensure all communications material is appropriate, professional and of the highest standard, furthering the goals and objectives of ICAP Ethiopia;
· Proactively lead, develop and generate publicity for ICAP’s work in Ethiopia and seek opportunities to raise public awareness;
· Ensure consistency and coherence in communications and messaging.
· Liaise with media to promote ICAP’s activities as well as to create awareness, develop and sustain good image among the public; end enhance the visibility of ICAP’s activities in Ethiopia;
· Assist ICAP Ethiopia staff in editing SOPs, manuals, guidelines, and also provide technical assistance by critically assessing ideas for videos, articles etc., before they are published.
· Lead all the internal and external communication work for all ICAP-sponsored events such as conferences, meetings, workshops, anniversaries, etc.
· Advice the Country Director on media, public relations and communication related activities and issues.
2) Capturing and Disseminating Learning:
· Prepare an appropriate strategy to disseminate messages to all stakeholders;
· Maintain a shared database for public relations, media and other related contacts.
· Secure a continuous flow of stories, best practices, and lessons learnt that can be disseminated through the appropriate media;
· Disseminate and ensure the effectiveness and proper use of updated communication style and templates to all ICAP Ethiopia staff.
