Project Director, HIV Prevention

We seek qualified candidates for the position of Project Director, HIV Prevention based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Position Responsibilities:

The Project Director, HIV Preventionwill be primarily responsible for managing a large and complex, multi-year and multi-million dollar USAID project. As a member of the management team, the Project Director will ensure project strategies and activities are developed in line with the organization’s strategic plan, mission, values, goals and objectives. The incumbent will be responsible for engaging all sectors – government, civil society and private – to deliver high level public health project management services within the framework of the Government of Ethiopia and USAID.

Responsibilities include: Leads implementation and monitoring of the designated project to achieve programmatic, financial, and administrative goals, and ensures project resources are utilized in accordance with applicable FHI and donor policies and procedures; Effectively manages staff working on the project to achieve set goals; Ensures production of timely and accurate programmatic and financial reports to FHI, and donors as required; Works with the Country Office Strategic Information team to manage the project level information system in order to respond fully to donor reporting requirements; Ensures program quality according to FHI standards including quality assurance and quality improvement initiatives; Provides technical assistance to the Country Office Management team through the writing and/or review of reports, protocols, papers, proposals, to ensure accuracy and appropriateness.

Minimum Requirements:

BS/BA in public health or related field, and 11-13 years relevant experience in international development programs with 5-7 years supervisory experience; or MS/MA/MPH in public health or related field, and 9 - 11 years relevant experience in international development programs, with 5-7 years supervisory experience; or PhD, MD or equivalent degree with 7 - 9 years relevant experience in HIV/AIDS or family planning with international development programs and 5-7 years of supervisory experience. Overseas field experience required. Proven skills and demonstrated experience developing and managing behavior change communication programs, HIV prevention services, prevention structural approaches and biomedical interventions for prevention, including social marketing programs. A minimum of 9 years relevant experience with health issues. Three to five years project leadership experience in a health management environment. Ability to travel within the country.
