Development & Training Services, Inc. (dTS) is seeking a Human Rights Specialist for an upcoming USAID-funded evaluation of two USAID human rights projects in Ethiopia. These complementary projects aimed to achieve their goal of deterring human rights violations in Ethiopian Police and Court institutions through a combination of technical assistance with advocacy and training.
The Human Rights Specialist will aid in the review and analysis of program design, implementation, monitoring, impact, and reporting, as well as initial needs assessments conducted for both projects. He or she will also support the development of data collection protocols, collect data, and prepare portions of the evaluation report.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in international law, peace and conflict studies, international relations, political science, or other disciplines related to human rights (required).
- At least 10 years of experience in international development operations (required).
- At least 7 years of work experience related to the promotion and protection of human rights (required).
- At least 4 years of experience working in Ethiopia or the Horn of Africa (required).
- Experience with USAID (preferred).
- Fluency in Amharic is an asset.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and as a team member (required)
- Detail-oriented and organized.
- Strong communicator, both verbally and in writing.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in MS Word.
