CARE Ethiopia seeks a Livelihood Advisor for the proposed USAID/DFAP project. S/He will provide technical advice on and oversee the implementation of activities that will build local governance and capacities building. The Livelihood Advisor will lead and coordinate all livelihood-related initiatives across the DFAP consortium partners. The Livelihood Advisor will provide technical assistance and capacity building to Government partners.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and provide technical guidance, supervision and support to all aspects of livelihoods on the DFAP project
- Development and implementation of livelihoods assessment tools and approaches for DFAP
- Ensure CARE Ethiopia’s Village Savings and Loan Approach (VESA) methodology and strategies are employed and promoted
- Develop Livelihood promotion capacities in CARE, partners and at woreda and community levels to protect livelihoods and achieve food security
- Provide capacity building and training of CARE and partners for livelihoods interventions
- Strengthen woreda level livelihoods promotion systems
- Develop standards and systems for implementing livelihood approaches working with rural communities
- Overall responsibility for the planning, organization, budget management, reporting and implementation of livelihood activities on DFAP
- Liaise with other NGOs, relevant Government agencies to ensure good coordination of effort, avoid duplication, share lessons and approaches for maximizing impact
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences or relevant discipline; Master’s degree preferred.
- At least five years’ relevant experience
- Experience in project management and reporting
- Experience in livelihoods interventions
- Relevant experience in capacity building and training
- Fluent in English
