ROAD SAFETY LEAD ENGINEER FOR ROAD DESIGN AND TRANSPORTATION
To be based in Transport Programs Management Office (TPMO) in liaison with City Government of Addis Ababa Road and Transport Bureau.
The officer shall report to the TPMO General Manager.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the city in designing and constructing safer streets and safer mobility systems across relevant agencies
Develop detailed work plans with clear milestones for safe mobility or safe streets design and implementation -related components of the city’s overall road safety initiative
Work with the planning office to identify land use planning factors that affect pedestrian traffic risk and safety in the city; identify measures that will reduce exposures to safety risk
Model and analyze road traffic network using computer programs, to understand and optimize the existing condition and improve safety
Identify and analyze high accident locations; identify mitigation strategies and applicable measures to improve road safety;
Analyze and interpret data gathered from transport studies
Conduct road safety audits to facilitate understanding of the pedestrian and road traffic safety situation
Serve for the City’s interaction with the Initiative Partner organization providing transportation expertise
Work with the coordinator to prepare and coordinate traffic safety training provided by Initiative partners
Communicate regularly with initiative coordinator
Report regularly on the initiatives progress to Initiative Coordinator and TPMO.
Submit written reports on implementation status and progress report on a quarterly basis
Troubleshoot barriers to progress and identify opportunities for rapid success.
