We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of: Leadership Development Specialist, Addressing Child Labor in Ethiopia

Project Description:

Reporting to the Project Director, the Leadership Development Specialist will be responsible for promoting community engagement and leadership opportunities for youth involving interventions that could include one or more of the following: active engagement of youth in community activities and youth-led activities; leadership training; mentorship (including through peer mentorship and links with graduates of President Obama’s Young African Leadership Initiative); development of community service projects; establishment of awareness raising campaigns; and professional networking.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide technical leadership in community engagement and leadership opportunities for youth.With technical oversight, provide technical leadership in design, development, planning, implementation; and capacity- building in vocational training.Participate in resource development activities.Responsible for accomplishing assigned job responsibilities, and following the standards and practices of the department and division.Responsible for planning and scheduling own work flow and timetables, within area and function guidelines.Identify areas for improved efficiency or effectiveness within prescribed parameters, and institutes enhancements to procedures.Maintain a constructive dialogue and technical exchange with field counterparts and technical staff of implementing partners.Develop and maintains collaborative relationships with donor/client organizations, relevant government agencies, bilateral and other NGOs.Develop tools for the design and implementation of specific technical components.Ensure that project implementation adheres to the appropriate global strategy and remains technically sound.

Skills and Experience:

University degree in economics, public policy, international development, or related field of study; Master’s Degree preferred.Minimum of three years of experience in a leadership position responsible for developing youth leadership interventions.Experience with the technical aspects of developing youth leadership, including youth development, community engagement, and leadership skills training.Experience with projects that promote youth leadership development.Understanding of youth engagement and development issues.Experience working successfully with government agencies and private organizations engaged in promoting youth engagement and development.Experience working with relevant government agencies and civil society organizations.Fluency in Amharic required. Knowledge of English preferred.
