RESPONSIBILITIES Provide technical advice to public health programs, Ministries of Health (MOHs), and other public health organizations in Ethiopia and other developing countries for the management and treatment of infectious diseases including malaria, TB and HIV/AIDS.
Responsibilities include statistical analysis, health care planning, disease surveillance systems, and public health improvement.
Provide technical advice in the design, management and evaluation of study protocols and health status questionnaires, sample selection and analysis.
Plan and direct studies to investigate disease, preventive methods, and treatments for disease. Provide technical advice on the strengthening and development of national and sub-national Routine Health Information Systems (RHIS) and Community Health Information Systems (CHIS). Provide technical advice and training to senior Ethiopian Health Management Information System (HMIS) staff.
Provide management team and USAID with updated information on the coordination of activities and overall status of all country activities.
Develop and implement plans for better integration of information on vertical programs for disease management and prevention, including HIV/AIDS, in the overall HIS.
Evaluate RHIS performance using Performance of Routine Information System Management (PRISM).
QUALIFICATIONS M.D. (no clinical duties) and four years of field experience designing and implementing Community Health Information Systems (CHIS) in Ethiopia for the management of infectious diseases.
Experience developing and implementing HIV patient monitoring systems required.
Must have experience advising Ministries of Health and training health professionals on Routine Health Information Systems (RHIS).
Experience using Performance of Routine Information System Management (PRISM) to evaluate RHIS performance is required.
Salary commensurate with experience.
