The Protestant Agency for Diakonia and Development is an international NGO, and a member of the Action by Churches Together (ACT) Alliance. It supports food security, health and education projects implemented by local faith based and civil society partners in Ethiopia, Somalia, South Sudan and Sudan. Main Tasks and Responsibilities
Financial Project Management of a project portfolio of partner organizations in the Horn of Africa region (Ethiopia, Somalia, South Sudan, and Sudan)
Conducts and documents financial reviews of funding applications of implementing partners, including budgets, financial reports and funds release requestsReviews and checks the accuracy of all supporting documents from implementing partnersCompares financial expenditures over against implementation plans and levels of compliance with the Protestant Agency for Diakonia and Development and other donor requirementsInsures that project financial reports are submitted by partners in a timely manner as specified in the cooperation agreementParticipates in closely monitoring of partner budgets and contractual agreementsAssists in reviewing of partners financial and audit reportsParticipates in monitoring of incorporation of recommendations arising from financial reviewsFacilitates trainings for implementing partners on organizational regulations and standardsConducts field and monitoring visits to implementing partners Participates in capacity assessments of existing and new partners Accepts other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor
Office Finance Management as part of the finance team of the Horn of Africa Regional Office
Assists with compliance of office polices, plans and proceduresAssists in identifying risk areas; analyzes and provide recommendation for mitigation, Assists in controlling the office cash balance, records of all entries including payments and advancesConducts bank reconciliation on monthly basis or more frequently as requiredPrepares cash flow position and ensure that funds are properly handled and accounted forReviews payment requests for completeness, proper authorization, compliance with policies and procedures, reasonability of costs, as per generally accepted accounting practicesFollows up the payments according to the allocated budgetReviews financial documents and administers encoding into the accounting software systemInsures timely advance settlementInsures timely cash depositsCarries responsibilities for the administration and archiving of office finance documentsConducts registration and yearly counting of fixed assetsMaintains and controls the stock balances of the organizationAssists in preparing of relevant documents for auditsAccepts other duties and responsibilities as assigned
