The Private Health Sector Project (PHSP) is a USAID -funded project, implemented by Abt Associates, Inc. that works to increase access and demand for high-quality public health services in the private sector by building sustainable public-private partnership.
Pharmacy Coordinator
The Pharmacy Coordinator will be based in Addis Ababa and have primary responsibility for leading and coordinating the pharmaceutical logistic management activities. S/he will report to the Clinical Services Director.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities Include
• Lead and manage the pharmacy team and ensure cohesive, smooth functioning of the team and to ensure each team member achieves his/her full potential.
• Lead the planning, budget preparation and implementation of PHSP’s pharmaceutical logistics system strengthening activities
• Provide leadership, technical support and coordination services in all areas of health commodity supply chain management activities on PHSP intervention programs.
• Ensure all facilities have sustainable supply of health commodities for all programmatic areas like ART, PMTCT, TB-DOTS, FP, and HCT in collaboration with logistics officers, RHBs, PFSA and other partners.
• Represent PHSP in different Technical Working Group, committees and forums regarding pharmaceutical logistics and supply chain management related issues/activities
• Ensure logistics related national recording, monitoring and reporting systems are in place, providing technical input in the implementation of integrated pharmaceutical logistic system in the private health sector as applicable
• Assesses the training and other needs of private sector health care providers in the areas of ART,PMTCT, TB, malaria and FP /STI commodity management and pharmacy related technical skills and executes training programs to address those needs -- which are also sensitive to the time constraints of private providers
• .Coordinate the assessments in PHSP supported sites regarding rational drug use as per national guide lines and the existing supply chain system to strengthen service provision.
• Participate in assessments of private health facilities to recruit those that are capable, willing and ready to bear social and professional responsibility in delivering PR1 .PMTCT, TB-DOTS, and FP etc services.
• Coordinate and facilitate supportive supervision of PHSP supported sites in collaboration with different program staffs.
• Compile and submit timely reports on monthly and quarterly basis on pharmacy related activities
• Collaborate with program managers and facilitate the selection and purchase of medical equipment and supplies in collaboration with SCMS following FMHACA regulations.
• Collaborate with PFSA and with others partners for strengthening the pharmaceutical logistics system.
• Oversee the storage and inventory management of supplies in PHSP ware house
• Perform any 6ther activities as may be assigned
Qualification Requirements Include the Following:
• Bpharm plus Masters in Pharmaceutical Management or MPH or MBA with 6 years of experience in pharmaceutical logistic management
• Experience in managing pharmaceuticals for TB, ART,FP etc, preferably in the private sector
• Trained and certified in pharmaceutical logistics management system/Drug supply management, Basic ART training, integrated pharmaceutical logistics management and other relevant trainings
• Experience in leadership and working with NGO are requirements
• Demonstrated communication skills and ability to lead public events
• Excellent presentation and writing skills
• Good interpersonal relation and communication.
• Computer skills in MS-Office applications, including MS Word, MS Excel and PowerPoint
• Good command of written and spoken English language
