Currently the Council is planning to conduct a research study on Adolescent and Youth Sexual and Reproductive Health (AYSRH) in Oromia, Tigray, Amhara, SNNP and Benishangul Gumuz regions. The Council invites qualified and experienced candidates to translate AYSRH quantitative study tool (questionnaire) to three local languages: Amharic, Afan Oromo and Tigrigna. The material will be translated from English, and should be finalized within 15 working days starting from the date the agreement is signed. The successful translator should be able to provide the translation services for at least one of the languages mentioned above.
Tasks:
The successful translator will conduct the following tasks:
Translate the English AYSRH questionnaire into any or all of the following languages: Amharic, Afan Oromo and Tigregna – requires ability to comprehend public health terminologies.Accuracy in translating ideas and concepts in simple language that can be clearly understood by the community members. Usage of official language and not the use of dialects is a must.Translate any new upcoming additions/changes included into the English version (if any) before the translation is finalized Accommodate comments given by the appropriate PC team on the content of the translated document Submit softcopy of the translation within 15 working days
Key Responsibilities:
The successful translator will translate questionnaire of AYSRH survey tool in English to Amharic, Afan Oromo or Tigrinya. Incorporate feed backs that may be provided by the technical team before final documents are accepted. Submit the final ready to use document after doing cleaning, reviewing and editing the entire material.
Required Qualification and Experience:
Education: Bachelor degree in language studies, literature, communication or a related field;
Experience: must be fluent writing and oral skills in English and any local language the applicant wants to compete for; proficient and familiar with technical terminologies in the fields of public health; extensive experience in translation of quantitative interviews; have excellent grammar and punctuation skills in the language;
Resume/CV: Including information describing previous relevant work experience; the translator must provide samples of previous work, preferably translation work related to public health from English language into any language(s) he or she would like to translate to
References: Names and contact information of a minimum of three previous clients separately for each of the language translation services the applicant wants to compete for
