Amref Health Africa would like to recruit Project Officer for its DFID Project.


PROJECT OFFICER:- ETCO/HR/012/2015


The job holder will be based in South Omo, Jinka and reports to Project Manager   


Purpose of the Job:


To provide technical expertise and support project activities and implementation of project strategy


Key Responsibilities:


· Implement and coordinate project activity under the supervision of Project Manager,


· Facilitate IEC/BCC activity


· Support the health extension programme in the production of model household and Health development army


· Facilitating and organizing different need based training for health workers at various health facilities and the community.


. Facilitating activities to be implemented at the community level


.  Facilitate the mobilization and implementation of monthly community based MNCH outreach.


.  Initiate and facilitate the procurement of different medical equipment for health facilities and also mentor and support the utilization of those materials at the facility.


· Liaise with relevant partners, stakeholders and collaborators at activity level


· Participate in operations research within the project


· Collect, compile and submit quarterly periodical, narrative activity reports internally and quarterly report,


· Identify gaps in various activities and provide /propose relevant materials to support field office solutions


.  Build and maintain good working relationships with the community, HEW, health center staff, woreda, district and zonal staff.


. Supervise and technically support community mobilizers


· Undertakes other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor




Qualifications and Competencies:


-          First Degree in Sociology, Nursing or Health education or other social science studies.


-          Minimum of 4 years  experience


-          Familiarity with the government health system 


-          NGO experience  is an advantage


-          Good interpersonal communication skills


-          Communication & writing skills in both Amharic & English


-          Excellent computer skills: Ms Windows, Ms Word and Excel,


-          In addition the ideal candidate must have strong analytical, problem solving and networking skills.


-          Be a team player and communicator and work under minimal supervision.


-          Has experience in pastoralist community and interest to work in hard areas to reach pastoralist community.


Terms of employment: 10 months  


Duty Station: South Omo, Jinka
