Background and Job Summary:
Joint Emergency Operation (JEOP) is an emergency food distribution program funded USAID/FFP. The program is implemented in 76 approved woredas across 6 regions (Amhara, Oromia, SNNPR, Somali, Tigray and Dire Dawa Administration). The JEOP program is targeting transitory or acute food insecure households through a beneficiary targeting process led by the Government of Ethiopia’s (GoE) Disaster Risk Management & Food Security Sector (DRMFSS) under the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA). In addition to helping transitory food insecure households meet their food needs, the JEOP intends to mitigate asset depletion of targeted households through an early warning system using SMS system.
The JEOP consortium is led by CRS and includes CARE, Save the Children International (SCI), World Vision (WV), Food for the Hungry (FH) and the Relief Society of Tigray (REST). CRS works through its local implementing partners Hararghe Catholic Secretariat (HCS) and the Meki Catholic Secretariat (MCS).
Purpose, key /specific duties and responsibilities
As the MEAL coordinator, you will be responsible for all JEOP MEAL activities including:Implementing and managing the JEOP M&E system,Monitoring, reviewing and updating Simple Measurements of Indicators for Learning and Evidence based Reporting (SMILER),Detailed Implementation Plan (DIP),Indicator Performance Tracking Table (IPTT),Program Monitoring Plan (PMP), M&E plan, andPiloting use of Information Communication Technology for Development (ICT4D) initiatives for JEOP in close collaboration with country program ICT4D Advisor and JEOP food monitoring team.Facilitate learning among JEOP partners, chair the M&E Technical working group (TWG) meetings, facilitate learning events and manage communication of M&E findings on time.Support and develop MEAL capacities of partner staff and primary stakeholders for managing and implementation of SMILER.Ensure CRS Ethiopia meets donors’ M&E requirements.
