Job Description:We are seeking a highly motivated individual with outstanding credentials, analytical ability, management capabilities, and communication skills to serve as the Program Manager for Ethiopia’s Access-to-Medicines Program.
Responsibilities:
Specifically, key responsibilities will include, but are not be limited to, the following:
• Manage a team of analysts and specialists on day-to-day program operations across diverse work streams to achieve results within tight timelines;
• Ensure that the Access-to-Medicines team provides coordinated technical support to the Ministry of Health (MOH) and ensure that team’s output consistently passes the highest quality standard;
• Identify and pursue new areas of work and partnerships within the MOH’s priority areas as they relate to Access-to-Medicines Program.
• Build the capacity of the Ministry of Health in Key Access-to-Medicines Areas including:
o Robust forecasting processes to ensure access to high quality, low cost medicines and diagnostics
o Effective and efficient tendering processes
o Planning for roll-out of new HIV care and treatment regimens and formulations
• Develop a sustainability plan for all Access-to-Medicines initiatives to ensure the MOH has the capacity to carry them forward and will benefit from them in the long-term.
• Manage team administration including preparation of quarterly and annual work plans, budgets, and reports in collaboration with the Deputy Country Director and Country Director;
• Maintain a thorough understanding of the HIV/AIDS, TB, and pharmaceuticals landscape within Ethiopia and globally including the key priorities, challenges and gaps in order to inform program development.
• Share key drug-access info with MOH and partners, such as newly available products and pricing, and overview of challenges in pediatric ARV marketplace that may create supply challenges.
• Ensure team responds on a timely basis to ad-hoc HIV-related questions from the Global DAT including assessment of product viability, product preferences, and feedback on formulations.
• Provide input into donor reports and development of brief success stories for sharing internally and with donors;
Qualifications:
• BA or BSc plus 6 years of professional experience, including project management
• Exceptional diplomacy and interpersonal skills
• Ability to build strong professional relationships with a range of stakeholders in a challenging, multi-cultural environment
• Ability to mentor and lead teams to perform consistently at a high level in high-pressure situations
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to prepare compelling presentations
• Strong quantitative skills
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, set priorities, and work independently and flexibly with a strong commitment to excellence
• Ability to navigate complex government processes and favorably influence decision-making in a professional and collaborative manner
• High level of proficiency in relevant computer applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
