Project Manager Job in Ethiopia by The Fred Hollows Foundation - 2015

Role Summery
 
The Project Manager( PM) is in charge of overseeing the FHF’s technical, financial and material supports for the trachoma program activities in his/her assigned zone in 19 woredas of East Hararghe zone serving over 3 Million population in implementation of Trachoma Elimination project through  the use of WHO endorsed SAFE strategy. S/he represents FHF-E in the zone, manages and supervises all the project staff and provides support to the zonal Health, Water and Education Departments in strengthening the implementation of the WHO endorsed SAFE strategy for the elimination of blinding trachoma. S/he will work extensively with the health, water and Education Department at zonal and, woreda health offices, and with project partners. S/he will be based in Harar town and is required to travel extensively (about 70%of his/her time) to project implementation woredas in East Hararghe Zone. The Zonal Project Officer reports to the FHF-E Programs Manager.
 
Key Responsibilities:
   Leads ,support and develop project staff under his/her responsibilityDevelop annual implementation plans in collaboration with other colleagues and partnersCoordinate, supervise and provide technical assistance for the implementation of full-fledged SAFE strategy in 19 woredas of East Hararghe zone.Due to deadline driven nature of the Project, strictly follows up timely project implementation on the ground and provides regular and timely report to the Programme Manager, FHF HQ in Addis.Provide  high level technical assistance to woredas to incorporate SAFE strategy in woreda based planningIdentify gaps and provide trainings and other capacity building measures to woredas to implementation of SAFE strategy. Actively Participate in Zonal level Trachoma elimination Taskforce meetingsCollaborate very closely with NGO partners, Health, Water and Education offices at Zonal and woreda level.   Frequently ,supervise the activities of TT surgeons/Integrated Eye Care WorkersParticipate in operational researches and provide technical and programmatic inputs  Liaises, regularly communicates, and maintains good relations with key partners including Zonal Health Department, Woreda Health Offices, Water and Energy office, and Health facilities.Maintain adequate records of activities, reports and baseline data of the project areaManages project funds in accordance with the implementation plan and budget and monitors efficient use of funds and other resources in compliance with FHF and donor policies and regulationsPrepare monthly and quarterly activity and financial utilization reports and submit to the country officeManage and maintain proper utilization of project resources, plan and coordinate logistics need for the implementation of the project.Performs other  assignments as may be required and as directed by the immediate supervisorActively participate in the preparation, implementation and reporting of plans and forecasts in line with agreed Key project indicators and timeframes.Demonstrate compliance with all legislation and The Foundation’s policies and procedures.Undertake programme training as required and agreed with the program Manager.Promote and model appropriate behaviour to support The Foundation’s culture, performance, and brand.Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures of The Foundation and take all reasonable care that your actions or omissions do not impact on the health and safety of others in The Foundation.
