Under the direct supervision of the Head of Programme Unit, the JPO will be responsible for the following functions:

Assist Head of M&E Team in planning, designing and coordinating surveys, assessments and evaluations, as scheduled in project M&E plans.Assist in the roll out of programme monitoring checklists.Assist in updating monitoring checklists and manuals as required.Develop annual M&E training plan and schedule and coordinate trainings for field and country office staffs.Assist Head of M&E Team in the compilation of results reports for management, donors and annual reporting (SPRs, APRs).Assist in supporting the UNDAF M&E TWG and all UNDAF and Interagency monitoring activities.Serve as M&E focal point for one or more designated country office programme teams. Focal point duties include assisting programme teams in logframe revisions, tracking and reporting beneficiaries, implementing surveys & operation researches, drafting results reports, M&E training, tracking progress against M&E plan, revisions to M&E system and capacity building for cooperating partners.Perform other duties as may be required.

Qualifications and Experience

Advanced University Degree (Masters degree)3 years of post-graduate, progressively responsible, job related experience in Monitoring & Evaluation and Results-Based Management (RBM)Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods, data analysis and interpretation of resultsAbility to solve problems, achieve goals, accept responsibility and take initiativeResourcefulness, initiative, tact and ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with persons of different national and cultural backgroundsExperience in analytic report writing and ability to communicate well orally and in writingProficiency in Word, Excel, Power Point, and SPSS or STATA or other statistical software

Working Languages

Working knowledge of English (proficiency/level C) and intermediate knowledge (intermediate/level B) of another UN official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) or Portuguese (one of WFP's working languages).

The selected candidate will be employed on a JPO fixed-term contract (P2 level) for an initial duration of two years with a probationary period of one year.
