Team Lead, Ethiopia, Addis Ababa

Team Lead, Ethiopia

ASI is seeking a Team Lead for a DFID funded Private Enterprise Programme in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This programme aims to support private sector development by: (1) improving firms' access to finance (the "access to finance" pillar) and (2) addressing market and government failures in identified priority sectors – horticulture, livestock and textiles.

The Team Lead will be responsible for overall programme management. She/he will provide overall leadership, management and strategic direction for the programme to successfully achieve program objectives. The Team Lead will be responsible for management and performance of programme staff including long- and short-term advisors; mobilisation of programme activities; development and implementation of workplans, operational budgets and performance monitoring plans. Coordination with donor representatives, government officials and the private sector is a critical function of this role.

This position is contingent upon ASI being awarded a contract.

Skills:

Private sector and financial services development expertise in Ethiopia. Experience liaising with and working through developing country governments at different tiers of administration (federal/regional/local) on high level issues. Deep understanding of gender equity issues and promoting women's entrepreneurship/employment. Excellent donor relationship manager with long-term programmatic vision. Leadership of transformative programmes that take a systems approach to private sector development. Successful delivery of Making Markets Work for the Poor (M4P) programmes.

Qualifications:

At least 10 years of project management experience working in Team Lead role. Ability to demonstrate effective leadership in management of programs of similar scale and scope requiring high levels of collaboration between multiple donors, government and institutional partners. Proven experience in the design and implementation of M4P, value chain and market development projects and programmes. Ability to deliver and manage programmes that demonstrate donor value for money. Local knowledge: understanding of the Ethiopian economy / political economy, particularly pertaining to the relevant sectors would be an advantage. Advanced degree in management, international development, or a related field required.
