Land O’Lakes is seeking an experienced gender expert on an anticipated livestock genetics improvement program funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation—Public-Private Partnership for Artificial Insemination Delivery (PAID) in East Africa. The future program’s goal is to increase private sector investment in artificial insemination goods and services in Ethiopia, and Tanzania. The program will use a public and private sector partnership approach to increase access to improved and appropriate dairy genetics in East Africa. With our private sector partners we will test and introduce new reproductive technologies (sexed semen, embryo transfer, in-vitro fertilization, etc.) to increase the supply of improved heifers.
The Gender and Training Coordinator will take the lead role in ensuring that training for AI technicians and farmer-based training sessions are gender-inclusive. Guided by Land O’Lakes’ gender policy (provided separately in an annex) and informed by the Gender Barrier Analysis that will be completed at project start-up, the Gender and Training Coordinator will advise on training content as well as the methodologies and pedagogy best suited to include and expand women’s roles in successful AI service delivery both on- and off-farm. S/he alongside the Data Management Analyst and the AI Technician Field Coordinators will work closely with AI technicians and a team team of technicians and enumerators to collect and analyze data and advise when program approaches to gender-inclusive service delivery need to be adapted or scaled out.
