ROLE PURPOSE Play a crucial role in implementing new growing techniques (example rooting/chemicals). R&D will follow a standard reporting structure and will combine all results of all trails in an organized way. Next steps are as important as the trail successfully progress; implementation. As R&D has seen the experience you will play an active role in implementations. ACCOUNTABILITIES
Business Accountabilities
1. Plan, coordinate and manage field bio efficacy and regulatory projects in crop protection
and crop enhancement associated with chemicals and traits including genetically modified
organisms;
2. Lead the team in demonstrating by example a culture of “CAN DO” in meeting the
aggressive and dynamic challenges relevant to an independent R&D services business;
3. Prepare all requested trials. For the 6.1 or 6.2 trials , determine if the specie is new specie or one which we are already growing for some time;
4. If the specie is a new specie then it’s required to research within the literature under which conditions the specie is supposed to grow and based on your findings you are to determine in cooperation with the head grower and the production manager a trial setup which will result in a best growing method at the end of the season;
5. For the research trials discussing with the people requesting for the trial the best trial approach. Write a trial setup for the trial and set up the trial according to this trial setup;
6. In charge of all production activities of the new materials (6.1 trials) and research trials at ETCU;
7. Growing of the plants, which are part of the trials program from the day the plants arrive at the farm as an uprooted cuttings (plant maintenance, Long or short day treatment (where applicable), trial specific spray, harvest, Post harvest quality control and packaging) until the plants are uprooted at the end of the season;
8. All unforeseeable necessary activities for the good growing of the plants. Communication of all trial related matters with the responsible people;
9. Recording of all specifics concerning all trials running at the cuttings department;
10. Handling of the records and organizing them in a useful manner in a computer file;
11. Analyzing the records during the active growth of the trial and finalizing the analysis at the end of the trial;
12. Compiling the results of the trials in a useful to the point report;
13. Presenting the report to the production manager and coordinator grower and there where this is applicable to the trial specialist external. During a meeting which will be organized by the R$D;
14. Advice and teach the coordinator grower and the section heads/supervisors on how to grow the plants according to the new growing methods for every variety we trialed;
15. You are responsible for the organization of KPI recording and feedback to the field and responsible persons;
16. You ensure KPI recording is on time and that the recording is appropriate;
17. You can give suggestions to improve recording and improving time management.
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND CAPABILITIES:
Critical Qualification and Experience:
§ MSC/BSC Degree in Horticulture, Agricultural Science, and other related/equivalent disciplines with a minimum of 2/4 years of experiences in similar capacity respectively.
Critical Knowledge:
Knowing plants and culture of growing plants; Crop disease and pest; Post-harvest knowledge.
Critical Experience:
Production of cuttings and quality definition; Disease and pest identification and management.
Critical technical, professional and personal capabilities:
Easy to spot problems and quality issues; Supervision and training; Data analyzing; Be Customer-focused, Innovative, Communicative and Results-oriented.
Critical leadership capabilities:
Good Management of the team; Good organizational skills;
