KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation is an international NGO, dedicated to the fight against tuberculosis (TB). We are the lead partner in Challenge TB, USAID’s fourth five year mechanism contributing to the global targets of TB control and the follow on project of TB CARE I. For Challenge TB in Ethiopia we work closely together with Management Sciences for Health (MSH) and the World Health Organization (WHO). The program will operate from a central KNCV office in Addis Ababa and two regional offices, one in Tigray and one in SNNPR.

Position: Communication and IT officer
Duty station: Addis Ababa
Purpose of the job
The Communication and IT officer develops and implements the media and communication strategy of KNCV and the Challenge TB project in Ethiopia. (S)he is responsible for the implementation of media and communication activities, targeted at different audiences in Ethiopia. (S)he will also be the liaison for IT infrastructure in the organization..
Responsibilities
Media and communication activities
• Develops and implements the media and communication strategy aligned with the strategy of KNCV headquarters
• Initiates and coordinates the development and implementation of communication tools, (success) stories and audio/visual materials, both for internal and external use
• Initiates, maintains and improves activities on the online channels (including website, social media, e-newsletter)
• Writes, edits and publishes copy for printed, online and social media and for different audiences
• Contributes to communication campaigns and events
• Follows news and developments and translates these to concrete communication opportunities to enhance the visibility of KNCV Ethiopia, USAID and Challenge TB
Press Relations
• Creates and guides media coverage for tuberculosis in general and KNCV Ethiopia and Challenge TB project activities and campaigns specifically
• Is responsible for an up-to-date press overview
• Builds strong relations with relevant press
• Is the first point of contact for the press
Information Technology (IT)
• Acts as liaison for the IT infrastructure with the IT service provider(s)
• Takes an active role in ensuring all computer and other IT equipment are functional and up to date
• Bachelors’ degree in the field of media and communication
• Knowledge of media and communication strategies, techniques and resources
• Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience in the field of communication and with media
• Knowledge of relevant software applications
• Excellent verbal and written communication and editorial skills in Amharic, English and preferably Tigrigna and other local languages
