Geneva Global, Ethiopia is seeking a proactive, experienced professional to serve as a Country Director in the Geneva Global Managed Speed School Initiative, also known as the Accelerated Learning for Africa (ALFA) program in Ethiopia. This person’s primary functions will be to provide program oversight and leadership to an Addis based team. Qualified candidates will be familiar with Ethiopia’s education system and have experience with education programs In Ethiopia. Familiarity with other development sectors such as health and economic empowerment are desirable.
JOB SUMMARY
The Country Director as a member of a multidisciplinary team will conduct a systematic process of Inquiry to search, analyze, summarize and present relevant written Information in the course of implementing Speed Schools/ALFA Projects resulting in outputs that meet or exceed the Geneva Global’s standards. He/ She is also responsible specifically for the follow-up of ALFA cohorts. Specific tasks include overseeing the collection and analysis of student attendance and performance data from Implementing partners, participating primary school, Woreda and Zone level Education offices via phone, email, and visits to their location; conducting partner program performance reviews; obtaining supporting documents and records and writing reports.
The Country Director will also oversee the implementation of the Primacy school level teacher training component of the program In accordance with the Ethiopia’s Ministry of Education guidelines at each administrative level, He/ She is also expected to establish and maintain good working relationships with government education officials at each administrative level and build partnerships with stakeholders and experts in-country.
The position is located in Addis Ababa; however extensive travel (50-75%) outside of Addis and occasional international travel will be required to perform the above. This position reports to the USA HQ-based Program Director.
